10mm - DRY SET MASONRY REPAIR


Two Wythe Brick (Angled Entry)


SPECIFICATION:

All masonry veneer is to be stabilized to be the backup wythe of masonry in a dry set manner by means of a 10mm helical 304 stainless steel remedial wall tie.


INSTALLATION PROCEDURES:

Install helical stainless steel ties into exterior masonry (dry set technique) at specified spacing. Patch all penetrations to match existing as approved by the specifier. Install helical ties as per the following procedures:

  • Am 8mm entry hole shall be drilled at the head joint upwards through the solid of the brick penetrating 3.5 inches into the backup wythe.
  • This drill procedure shall be carried out by means of a high speed rotary percussion drill (3 jaw chuck type).
  • NOTE: A dry set support tool may be required when installing longer lengths of the helical tie into the dense masonry units.
  • The 10mm helical stainless steel tie shall then be driven into position by means of a BLOK-LOK® dry ser power tool mounted on an electric hammer drill (S.D.S. type).

All relevant drill bits and setting tools shall be supplied by BLOK-LOK® Ltd.
